Mighty Partner working on Land & Water

AMERICAN RIVERS

It’s not just that rivers make our lives better. We can’t survive without them.

Why we love them

We particularly support their work in the Southwest Rivers program. In order to understand water issues on the Front Range of Colorado, you have to also pay attention to the greater conversations in the Colorado River Basin. The Southwest river team’s passion for connecting our urban municipal waters to the wild & scenic sections carving out mountain vistas is critical for larger advocacy work ahead.

Who they are

American Rivers is dedicated to protecting wild rivers, restoring damaged rivers and conserving clean water for people and nature. Their Southwest River Protection program aims to safeguard the last wild, free-flowing rivers in the Southwest U.S.

Did you know?

River corridors in the West provide habitat for more species of birds than all other western vegetation combined; 80 percent of neotropical migrant species (mostly songbirds) depend on rivers and riverside lands for nesting or migration. Fully 80 percent of all vertebrate wildlife in the Southwest depend on river corridors for at least half of their life.
